Rachel Gosling

Teaching, to me(Rachel Gosling), is about refining and strengthening the potential that exists in every child, embedding ambition and driving progression to allow each and every child to enjoy and achieve. In order for this to happen, we often need to work on removing barriers to learning, be they intrinsic or extrinsic. During my final honors year at Bath Spa University, I took modules in Inclusion and Diversity, Dyslexia, and Mathematics. My final dissertation centered around how adults’ perceptions of their own academic self-worth have a direct effect on the child they support, specifically in maths. I graduated with first-class honors in education in 2013.

Through my 17 years working in education, I have seen all manner of struggles and triumphs. Children who have overcome difficulties and adversity, as well as those who have just buckled under the pressure. Sadly, too many students have their aspirations crushed or crushed along the way. I feel passionate about supporting and enabling students to develop their own sense of academic identity and educational growth.
